were are all the mods we have been off topic for about 4 hours now and nothers happend:-$
EDIT: ok i take it back polypipe solvent cement is the worst glue i have ever used its hopeless its brital and it dousent even melt the pipe to truly weld it its rubbish.
just redid it all with the hotgluegun and no leaks and it holds to gether unlike solvent cement

DO NOT GLUE YOUR CANNON WITH HOT GLUE!
Otherwise i'd be damn well near tempted to have you banned from this site for idiocy.
Hot glue doesn't hold sh|t and it wont hold PVC fittings togther or seal them.
Just buy PVC cement and PVC primer for pressure PVC applications, apply it like it says on the bottles and you're done.
Hot glue will not hold it nor seal it.
If you do not realise this and are going to carry on, give up the hobby now.
Do some damn research before building a pneumatic.

Take it above 70psi, I dare ya, I double dare ya m*****f*****holds to gether unlike solvent cement

G dont use hot glue or you'll end up like that guy from barny, you no, the one who blew his hand off making a bomb
why bother asking for peoples opinions and then turn around and completely ignore everything everyone has told you. should you insist on doing this maybe you will as lucky as this guy was.

tehe, just the title of this thread is amazing. Don't worry our urgent attempts to dissuade you are just for fun. Go ahead and hot glue the sucker! but dont forget to scotch tape it as well. Take that bad boy over 100 psi (and hopefully darwin's theory will take care of the rest.)
your my sort of guy lol.koolaidman wrote:tehe, just the title of this thread is amazing. Don't worry our urgent attempts to dissuade you are just for fun. but know i have thought good and hard about it and i am going to buy the right glue, the other glue i used was only for ABS not PVC barrier pipe and thats why it did not glue very well.
thank you for changing the name of the thread
not to self don`t do what people off the internet tell me to do!(koolaidman)
Do not, at all, try to glue PVC with hot glue. I tried it with my old cannon, and I even tape it, and one pump...KABLOOIE! It frikkin' scared me! It didn't really explode, but it was really awkward and scary. But that cannon wasn't really a cannon, it was actually a really small one. If it was small, and yours is normal sized, do not even touch PVC with hot glue or else I will go to your house, and slap you around a bit with a large trout. Well, I'm getting a little off track here, but my point is...do not use hot glue to join fittings together for a cannon...you will die...seriously...

You shouldn't be...considering the fatalities that have happened in the past from poorly constructed potato launchers, this could turn into another one of those scenarios.n-strike wrote:Do not, at all, try to glue PVC with hot glue. If you are using PVC pipe and fittings...use PVC primer and glue. I know I am reiterating what everyone else has said (and jrdww hates when people do this), but its just so necessary. Don't use epoxy or any adhesive for PVC; they were not designed for this. The only scenario where epoxy is allowable is when the design of the cannon makes it impossible to use PVC primer and glue, and the strength of that joint is not critical to the safety of the launcher. I know epoxy has been used successfully in the past...but so has PVC primer and glue, and it is designed to be used on PVC.

okay, this post goes too far. people are encouraging someone who didnt know weather it was a good idea or not to make a spudgun with hot glue to make a pneumatic, with a piston valve no less, that operates at 2400 psi... I think some of the posts in these threads are worthy of being etched in stone... a tombstone that is.

True plus imagine probably instead of the obvious death thing he just got more messed updaxspudder wrote:okay, this post goes too far...
Everytime I read this topic I can't stop laughing and some of the replies are more funny. (like one on page 2 about the specs of it).
Anyway it does give me an idea about using a hot glued in cartridge like a burst disk, But it's impossible to tell can it hold 1psi 2psi or what if it could hold the 2400psi 8)
EDIT: MrC.'s"DO NOT GLUE YOUR CANNON WITH HOT GLUE! "
I think I've found a sig!!! LOL 8)

Not trying to derail this thread, but WHAT is the backstory on this picture?! Was this a spudfiles member?grumpy wrote:why bother asking for peoples opinions and then turn around and completely ignore everything everyone has told you. should you insist on doing this maybe you will as lucky as this guy was.
Umm seriously dude, but do you know how much 2400psi is? That will blow apart PVC like a hot knife passes through butter. Your average air compressor puts out 120-150psi. That is PLENTY. And glueing that tank to the gun will just cause it to blow off and fly to the next neighborhood. You probably shouldn't use that tank for ANYTHING at this point. Hell, I wouldn't want to.

There was a thread about it at WARPIG: Well, It finally happened, LAWS detonates at Scenario gameSpudMonster wrote:Not trying to derail this thread, but WHAT is the backstory on this picture?! I opened this thread and the first thing I read was Ammosmoke’s comment on 2400psi, and with the title being “joining PVC with hot glue”… well… I knew two things:
One, a greenhorn is about to blow himself up…
Two, greenhorns seem to get dumber the longer this forum is up…

@judgment_arms very true, that is why I think this thread should be deleted or locked, some new person is going to blindly read half the posts and hurt himself. Anything having to do with 2400psi has no place in a "pvc with hot glue thread", other than proving darwin correct.
