I always find well recorded live tracks quite often have alot more power than studio recordings and also If the band is on top form It makes the live versions so much better to listen to, thats just my opinion though

That's the problem though, well recorded live stuff is really tough to do right because the band is set up, well to go live...not optimized to record. There is a huge difference, trust me.

A lot of that "power" you're hearing is really introduced back at the studio where it all still gets mixed and many times parts rerecorded, like a lead vocal or back vocals which tend to get drowned out live. Stage instruments bleeding into the vocal mics are the big problem there.

Yeah starman is right, and they usually disable the side fills if they are going to record live, which means the guitarist and bassist sometimes have to stick pretty damn close to the drummer to hear their fills so they can keep in time.

Yeah i know the tracks are all edited in the studio but it still captures some of the atmosphere, and theres nothing like standing in a stadium in the dark, then you hear carl orff playing, and ozzy walks out on stage and screams are you ready to go f*****g wild tonight? let the crazyness begin"

Yeah good point. :)

Though the sound on the 'Tribute' album came out so well because they could edit it and they had loads of concerts to grab the songs from. Also since the band was called Blizzard of Ozz at the time, they had small venues and concerts with better acoustics, if they played larger arenas the sound would've been worse.

Unlike live Radio shows where they can't edit the music before it goes on.

It's nice how he still uses it to open his concerts these days, I just wish Randy Rhoads was the one playing the intro and the song was 'I Don't Know'.

btw, just finished reading Rudy Sarzo's book about Randy Rhoads, awesome read. Funny, but sad hearing about what Randy was really like.

I don't know is a fantastic live song, was one of the best songs of the night when i saw him last year at wembley arena. Randy may not still be with us and Ozzy's voice isn't as good as it used to be but it was still an amazing show.

Hmm may have to pick up a copy of that and have a read.

The list of tracks is getting pretty long, it's going to take me a while to grind through this lot.

I'm seeing a few tracks that surprise me a bit, although good surprise rather than bad surprise.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

1) Currently, just storing it up. I'll analyse it soon.
2) Yes.
3) When I think I have a reasonable amount of information. I could probably stop now, but I'll give it a little longer.

I was watching Music Choice -metal (a cable channel)
Waiting for more songs by "the Sword". Didn't hear any. :(

But I saw a video by Unleashed called "Your children will burn" LOL, I was thinking it would be a funny song for a combustion.

Another sort of old one, Europe's "final countdown".(cool for vid music)

I buy old tapes for $0.50 sometimes.
I was listening to Sinead O'Connor's "Just call me joe" nice guitar distortion and her voice is nice in it.

My old skater friends used to love "Korn" and "Type o Negative"
I like lot's of Metal but not the screaming incomprehensible or "cat" stuff.
I like my first list still. But like JSR and others said, They change.

Wondered, When will you let us know what these are for Ragnarok??? 8)

EDIT: BTW I've found if you walk in a place and play AC/DC's Dirty Deeds on the juke-box, no one will mess with you.
But they'll think you're psyco. :P 8)
