M.H.I.S
This is mylong barrel pneumatic called the M.H.I.S(makes holes in stuff). This is about my 4th made small bore pneumatic cannon because i live in a town and cant really shoot big cannons in here with out the neighbours complaining.
Well anyway i made this cannon today out of parts of other cannons except i had to buy the barrel, which is 1.5meters of 1inch class 12 pipe(equivalent to sch 40)i use a modded sprinkler valve which i had to offset the 1/4inch nipple as it is a guide rod modle valve. The chamber is made of a 1inch to 3/4 reducer and tee where i have a female air compressore fitting to air the chamber. The actual chamber consists of a 2letre coke bottle which i run at 90psi regularly.
On my first shot i made a aluminium foil ball and shaped and squashed it tightuntil it was nice and hard and i fired it out of the cannon and it went off wiht a nice crack,i also got a schampagne cork(not sure on spelling) and sanded it back until it was a really tight fit lubed it up and shot it out of eye site and i later shot a small like and i could barely see it fly until i lost track of it and not 2 mention the sound was really cool a nice crack followed closely by a OI!as my dad was yelling at me for shooting his "good limes",i was wondering if some one could use a GGDT and find the maximum velocity of my cannon or the correct chamber size i should use,as i dont have a GGDT it doesnt work on my computer:Pbut then again computers rnt my thing.
Let me know wat u think of it and any impovements i could sue, thanks for bothering to read my hopeless writing and grammar skills.

This is my cannon as you can see it quite long and the barrel/chamber ratio is porbly terribly wrong.

This is the oposite side of the first sheet, the clean hole is fromt the sinker and the other was from a schampagne cork,no joke a cork!at 3 metres and with only 10mm screw at weighting.

This is a box made of 3/4 chipboard and i shot a sinker with wadding right through both sided then it flew and bounced off my fence and landed on the roof of my house.

I think that you may get better results with smaller bottle because it can take more presure.

Well i am actualy planning to use a 50mm chamber out of class 18 pipe
(sch80 equivelent),now how i connected the coke bottle..this is a little crazy and stupid, but its only ever failed on me once and that was when i was using ball valves, but still i ran 90-100psi.first off all it is a 3/4 female nipple which i screw the bottle into its standard threads, but i use a rasp and file back the thread ont the bottle of the coke bottle till its a near fit but still tight, then i cover it in about 20layers of sealing tape and jus screw it into the threads it start off easy but if u did it right the thread bites into the bottle and then i get some vice grips and screw the bottle in as far as it can go.and then test for leaks, and unscrew and add more tape if needed and when its unscrewed you can see the thread made by the brass fittings.

He said it will look awsome.... I think it looks cooler out of Bottles than PVC in this type of an In-Line, and they're disposable....

Does a 2 liter or 3 liter work? Will it hold 100psi? Whats it's MAX PSI?

I think you should paint it, it's a nice cannon already I can tell, but people are bitching about the looks of it :D

GJ, Keep it up

I wish people would stop needing a better signature!

two liters explode at like 90 or 100 psi so 3 liters would be even less.

nice gun though i like the looks of the coke bottle. i like it when people use bottles like that cause it shows you can make a nice working gun out of everyday trash.

Man would you look at the shit he's pullin out of his ass...

3 liter bottles burst around 140 on the low side, around 170 or so for 2 liters. I wouldn't suggest taking it even near that much. Taking 2 liters up to 125 should be fine. Stick to 100 for 3 liters.

my bad i just looked it up again and gorts right. i remember mythbusters did something with bottles once and tested to see how much pressure they could hold. i must have mixed up the pressure they actually used and the bursting pressure.

It's cool. :P

Dude, I didn't know 2 liter coke bottles were made in that shape! I know the smaller ones were but the big ones are usually in the generic "plain bottle" shape.

he connected the bottle to the back of it by removing the top part of the cap. so then its just threads. then he epoxied it in place and screwed in the bottle. so if his chamber blew or got "tamperd" and was brok he could replace it no problem 8)

my bad i didnt see the gold part. that makes it even simpler. all he did was just find the right size and screw it in (DUH :P )
