That's a beautiful piece you got there, top notch work. Your welds look pretty nice too... I gotta comment on those, I weld for a living. I wish I could make a nice steel cannon like this but I'm just afraid it'd be topo darn heavy. How much does yours weigh?
The hop-up is interesting, it's alot like the flatline system that Tippmann uses. For awhile, there were a few companies that made something like this for a paintball gun, that they referred to as a "spin pad". It was adjustable for how much pressure it would put on the ball, but I think most companies gave up on it because they broke paintballs too easily.

It weighs 16 lbs. I could cut the weight by 9 lbs if I just used a thin wall steel for the chamber and eliminated the coax chamber inside that. It was unnecessary because the design only needs a 1/8th gap around the piston face. I have made other inlines with the same performance.

I cut a 3 inch notch in the breech 1 inch wide. Then used a piece of 1/2" steel, 1/4" thick and folded a piece of 1/4" thick rubber around 3 sides of it. Pressed it into the notch and trimmed the edges. A hose clamp secures it to the breech cover. It protrudes down into the projectile-chamber about 3/8ths of an inch.
When the breech is closed it holds the tennis ball in an will not roll out. However I have come across tennis balls that are not 2.5 inches in diameter. A buddy of mine gave me a 60lbs bag of used tennis balls from a tennis club. That's when I noticed the diameter issues. I will lose about 20-40 feet of range on a small diameter ball.

this is awesome. it looks awesome and it works. everything i love in a launcher. i'm gonna make somethin similar to a M72 LAW. they"re small but it's the projectile that makes it awesome.

WHY PAY FOR IT WHEN U CAN MAKE IT?
I too am in the works of building a set of "drop in" internals for a M72 LAW.
This is a set I put together months back but was too large. (Length and diameter)
It fits fine into a AT4, and launches nerfs at 290 psi.
The new m72 internals have a retracting inner barrel, I should have it finished by the winter time.

A buddy of mine from CT bought a replica (non-functioning) in the early 90's when they were $200. You can still get them but they are now $500-$600.Where do you go for such detailed plans? I would love to make a replica of some shoulder fired launchers.
Anyway, at a WW2 event I took multiple photos of it with a dollar bill next to it to get the scale correct. I did not have a tape measure on me, so I used a dollar bill & five dollar bill - which is 6-inches in length. There are some posted measurements on the WW2 reenactors board.

sorry for reviving a semi-dead thread, but what size and length pipe is your chamber and where did you buy it? also just to make sure is this basically a coaxial gun that doesnt have the barrel go inside of the pipe and the piston doesnt seal against the barrel
