you can get an electric motor and hook it up to the self made pump, then you hook everythin up to the pump and chambre then you sit back and enjoy the show!

Interesting... sounds like it would never work (without more work than its worth). Have you done it?

yes it works pretty well, especially if the motor is strong

So put up a picture, I'm sure many here would like to see it.

Hey I have one more question? if i have the pump 5cm at the top and then slowly narrow it down until its lets say 1cm, would i get a higher pressure and more air volume( all the force is concentrated is it not?)?

Do you mean diameter? In theory a reducing diameter pump head would compromise between volume and pressure (in a perverse interpretation of the theory behind the taper bore principle), however how would you carry it out in practice? You might want to check out the patent for the FX multi-stage pump, a bit complex but I think it's something along those lines.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't see it as a practical project.

The design of the contracting piston head, and the taper ratio, would conspire to defeat you.

If you did (somehow) get the piston to work, the pump would build pressure quite quickly (given a closed system). This would put ever increasing strain on the moving parts of your piston head, making durability an issue.

A rubber disk piston head (This is what you're thinking isn't it?), might work for very low pressures, but IMHO, would quickly fail at any decent amount of pressure.

Not to mention, where are you going to find a tapered tube that matches your requirements?

Multiple compression stages is the way to go.

But, feel free to build it and prove me wrong. :)

I already have an idea!!!! I will have 3 tubes, each will have a smaller inner diameter. They will be soldered together. On my pston i will have a long pipe that the other pistons are attached to one after another( there will be 3 pipes put together). The whole thing will be epoxied or filled up with something else and soldered. Tell me if you like my idea and if you understand it. Maybe someone who understands the pointless blabber i wrote could give my some constructive or critical ideas.

It would probably just be easier to build three pumps, say a 1 inch, 0.5 inch and 0.25 inch tube, and take your launcher to progressively higher pressures.

Sounds good, how about i try to build a proper diesel compressor? maybe an old car engine or something?

Anybody know where to get a good high pressure schrader valve chuck and if possible some high pressure hose from the same place? I've been looking around but none have been rated high enough.
