3" Piston in a 3" Tee?
Ok, so I have changed my idea again, because certain parts just dont fit together. I am thinking of cutting some polyethelyne rod up and putting a check valve in it, and bolting 2 segments together as a pison. Would this work? Would it withstand 100psi? http://www.mcmaster.com/#8701k55/=kt1yz

Those who know how to build this won't tell you because Gort makes money selling them. Your best bet is to build your own 2" or 3" piston valve, if your looking for a mauler your going to have to buy one sorry.
Isnt a mauler nothing more then a well-made chamber-sealing piston valve with o-rings and a check valve in the piston?
I thought the mauler was a copy of what joel made which had a diaphragm valve in there as well.psycix wrote:Isnt a mauler nothing more then a well-made chamber-sealing piston valve with o-rings and a check valve in the piston?

If you want to copy the mauler, you'll need a lathe.
If you want to build a piston valve, you can use what you want. The mauler is more powerful because of its tight tolerances, built-in check valve, o-rings etc.

I can probably get acess to the lathe at my school, the design I hand dress has a check valve and O-rings. It consists of 2 2" couplers and 2"-1/2" bushings inside them for the valve and bolts for the neoprene washers. My question is, will a 2" PVC coupler fit well inside a 2.5" tee?

Irrigation supply stores. Look in your phonebook.Mrcrouse1 wrote:Also, does anyone know a good place to get 2.5" PVC and fittings?
@Jmeyer, you really don't need to people to not double post, its really redundant and only adds another useless post.

I get my 2 1/2" fittings through Graingers. Tee's are about $10. Before you start look here;

I wish I found this before I started my piston. I may make one just to see if iI can do it. Good luck.

So I checked out the sizes and such for fittings, and my original idea will not work. Would a 3" diameter polyethylene rod be able to withstand 100psi? http://www.mcmaster.com/#8701k55/=kt1yz
I am thinking about putting this inside a 3" coupler, I'll machine in o-rings and a check valve and such.

Should work. Why not skip the check valve and use a floating o-ring?
Have a look at the piston for my "bb" gun.
