Wish I could render this good....yes, its really not real. Its actually a rendering. It was modeled and then rendered.

Now that is the type of rendering I expect from you on the latest CAD file that I sent to you. :D

That is some real professional work.

You will get to that level in due time. As a matter of fact I am sure you will.

Do know if this was an add on package to a 3D CAD program or just a separate rendering program?

Thats incredible. Especially the exploded view.
It looks like Inventor and 3D Studio Max. So they used a seperate rendering package also made by Autodesk.

I'll be honest, I think you picked one of the lesser ones from his collection, because although it's good, it's still clearly rendered.

Try this one for size:

You'd be damned to tell that wasn't real, apart perhaps there's a mite too much shine on the cartridge cases.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Povray would be able to do that kind of rendering. Here's a povray rendering that includes out of focus simulation of a typical camera lense:

Yep, that's a 100% digitally created image of a scene that never existed.

How on earth did they do that then muck up the bottom right bolt.

Check out the epic shine on the bottom of the head.

Which photo? I don't see any shine on the bottom right bolt. The ends of the threads seem a bit odd though.

Here is one I did in Lightwave about ten years ago before it had radiosity rendering.

What prompted you to do that vintage theme?

That is still an excellent rendering for ten year old technology!

I definitely like it.

Ten years ago? Bloody chicken feed, thats amazing Solar.

@hotwired: You don't polish the underside of your bolt heads? They provide better compression and less stress on the threads that way, you silly goose.

@ragnarok: The fabric really threw me off on some of those. I thought the guy was just playing a joke. I then realized that the fabric isn't rendered, its just a background image lol.

I worked that much out myself - but that doesn't render (pun intended) the rest of it any less impressive.
