Well, I have been a long time Air gun shooter, and I thought it would be fun to build a Pneumatic Air Rifle. Does anybody have any link's or information I could use to do this. I wish to make a HPA .177 cal rifle. I'm thinking around the 3000 psi range. Any advice? Sorry if their isnt much info here, but I'm walking into the blank on this.

That's quite a general specification, what sort of power/accuracy are you looking for, single or multi-shot, what will you be using to fill it, is compactness an issue... lots of things to consider.

Well, I want as much accuracy and range as possible, generally the higher the power the better, and im looking at Compressed Air as the main power source, semi automatic would be great, but im willing to compromise at single shot. Also, compactness is not an issue. I will fill it with a scuba tank, I have the tank and compressor already.

so I guess that your reasoning here is more less like this ->> 'I don't mind that it won't be as good as a commercial air gun... I am bored.. I have no life and I wanted to spend more money building it than cheapo commercial air guns cost... as I said eariler I have no life so I hope I will stop thinking about commiting a sucide while building it' :D

if it's not then you might consider buying one... there si no point in building somehting that won't perform as good as a store bought air rifle... if you want a chalenge then build a 3/8" air gun

ohh sorry for being such a dick... but you'll spend more time and $$$ building one yourself than it's worth it...

welcome to spudfiles.... you might think that this post is not helpful but in fact I am trying to help you now

3/8"? Just out of curiousity, is their anyway to get one of these to accurately fire a 30-06 Bullet accurately out to 70 yards(The bullet, not the shell/gunpowder etc.), That would be hella fun compared to some weak .177 rifle lol.

with 1 cm barrel and 9.65mm ammo (ball bearings... but you could use lead shot for better energy retention)
you could get this
(if you are totally non-metric that's roughly 38ft*lbs and 565 ft/s.... notice that the chamber is quite small so you could get more easily)

Allright, im looking at building something like this http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/25mm-sn ... 10615.html but having it shoot .177 cal pellets. I want to keep the budget under 100$ for this project. Does anybody think this is possible, I can upgrade to .22 pellets if it would be better.

I bought a fairly decent PCA air rifle for under 100$ (202PLN)

for me and most of the members it would be virtually impossible get the same accuracy, power and compactness/ergonomics/aesthetics etc. with a homemade gun as a commercial airgun has... not to mention that it would be far more expensive

I hope you are fully aware of it... I am not trying to discourage you from the hobby but large bore spudguns are generally much more impressive (realtively speaking... even 6mm barrel can be impressive)

let me put it straight:
if you are really looking for accuracy then buy an air rifle

if you are looking for power and a cool gun then build a spudgun with a 3/8" bore or larger

ok if you really want to build a .177 you'll need a regulator to use the scuba tank...
if you already have one and it can generate pressures in the range 250-800 psi then you just need a lenght of malleable iron pipe (10-15 cm of 1/2"should be enough for .177)

and a 1/4" or 3/8" QEV valve... QEV is essentially a commercialy made piston valve of course you can build one yourself but QEVs are so cheap these days that you might as well take the easier route and buy one

you'll also need a pilot valve and a tire valve for filling the gun
(a blowgun would be ok for 300-400 psi gun )

I hope this helps... but still what I wrote earlier stays valid...

there is a lot of info here just spend some time reading it.. that should make things for you easier in the long run

PCA stand for 'pre charged air'... a daisy bb gun is an example of a PCA rifle.. they have an inbuilt pump so the gun is fully self contained so you don't need a scuba bottle

the one I have I sharp innova 1110, it's a pretty cheap product, which is still quite good despite its low price

This is a fairly simple design to copy in terms of function - this is is how it works - but it depends on your material know how, are you good with metal parts/soldering/using high strength adhesive?

With regards to a barrel, if you want genuine accuracy get yourself a commercially rifled barrel.

I would tend to agree wioth POLAND_SPUD here though, consider a bigger calibre if you want something "different" from normal airguns, for example if you can get yourself a 50 cal muzzle-loader barrel even at lowish pressures (200-400 psi) you'd have one heck of a powerhouse.

If you have a SCUBA bottle with 3000 psi on tap, why not consider making a BB machinegun?
