Once upon an English 9 class dreary ...I remembered a video I had seen of a large combustion powered "vortex gun", kind of like those smoke ring guns one can buy.

Well, I wondering if this concept could be applied as an attachment to the end of a pneumatic cannon's barrel (See diagram below). And if anybody else has tried to do this. Please give me your input on my design.
Thanks

I think he is, but all other types of vortex guns I have seen operate with a straight barrel, also, the cone may be in place to slow the speed of the exhaust gases. My understanding is that the lip at the end of the barrel is what generates the vortex.

well... the only thing i can suggest is that you go small scale and try it out.

also i was just thinking about it..
if you have a blast chamber and a straight barrel, (just guessing that you place a slug in the barrel)... isn’t that identical to a combustion spud gun?

I think I might have made my diagram too vague, the direction of airflow is from right to left across the diagram, the vortex generator is mounted at the end of the barrel and in theory should produce the vortex from the accelerated air from barrel.

this has been talked about on here before with the same video posted. i have not seen any physical device come from the discussion. so i would try some things out and report back.

Ok, you should expect a physical result around late February, I'm very busy at the moment with a huge science fair project and midterms.
