Well well well, let's see what we've got here...
My First truely working hybrid...

SPECS
Chamber = 39 cm of 1" steel
Ignition = 350kV stungun, modded to run off my airsoft (9.6V, 3500 mAh) battery.
Valve = modded 1/2" union
Barrel(s) = .40 cal, 1/2" ; 20 mm, 24mm.

A little explanation...
I know most of the forumers don't bother reading but here is a little introduction, to say what problems I encountered, how i fixed them. First, buying the parts...
Here in france, it is pretty difficult to get access to 2" steel pipe for lambda customers. So, i sticked with 1" chamber. The union is a 1/2" one, which leads me to talk about that.
Unions
...are a PITA, excuse my english, but it's the case. At first, the "male" part of the union was not practical to make burst discs, It simply wouldn't seal. Aluminium foil would tear to pieces. I tried addind "selofane" cooking film, to seal, but it was weak.
So I sent a PM to MrCrowley who gave me very helping information about that. I sawed the "half-cone" of the male part, ground it flat. Then I cut a circle in bike tire, filed it until it was perfectly smooth, and epoxied it on the now-flat male part. (pictures to help understand) This is now a fully working union, that took for now about ten 5x shot, without any sign of failure.

The igntion
A stungun is great, makes big juicy sparks, but it eats through batteries. So after i got rid of the CR123a lithium batteries that lasted 15 test shots, I soldered the connectors from my airsoft AEG to the battery compartment of the stungun, and when I plugged to battery in, nice sparks were back!

Mixing
The mixing part is still a little blurry :D The last shot i did was 30 minutes ago in the garden, to see if I could do it again. Well...no. 5x, with soda can burst disc, it was almost as loud as my .44 black powder revolver.
I now fill the chamber to 0.2 bars for 5x shots, seems to work perfectly. It's a bit clumsy but it does the job.

RESULTS

I only have a few pictures, I'll record videos in the woods this weekend with a friend.
The wooden board is 3/4" from a desk. Strong stuff. Even at 3x it goes through. The projectiles that made this are .44 lead balls from the remington 1858, about 150 grains, saboted to fit in the 16mm barrel (only 1,5' long. ) with a little plastic cap (that weighs 0.5 gram). Carbon arrows, with the cap as sabot, I even shot a 0.2g airsoft BB against a shipping cardboard box filled with paper, about 1/2", it went through.

EDIT :
6x mixes are great! Burst disc is soda can. I've shot a 40 gram steel punch at 3/4" plywood + 1/4" steel. The wood is pierced but no great scoop here, what surprised me more...is that i pierced the 1/4" steel plate. Note that the recoil is substancial with this projectile :

The video is still in edition mode, I will add it as soon as i get more footage. For now i've shot a 32" carbon arrow, several lead balls, airsoft BB's,plastic caps, BB's buckshot etc...

Album not found but looks like it's working great :D

How about a high speed video ;) and on the subject, what software did you use to make that compilation video?

I am not a big fan of hybrids and combustions (because of low ROF) but that damage pics are quite impressive

it would be cool if you convert it into a full auto hybrid :D

Frying pan damage : 5x, 45 cm long , 16mm barrel, ammo is a 44 lead ball in plastic cap. 158 grains. HGDT gives 204 m/s, and with the one meter barrel : 270 m/s. That's why i use the 45cm long barrel in the garage. powerfull but not too much.
With only the cap, HGDT predicts 637 m/s. (at 5x)

They automaticly resize for me! I have a video of the shot, but it's dark, and...you don't see anything happening aside the boom and the pan moving a little. The bullet was caught in the cardboard behind.
I'll make as much videos as i can this weekend!
At 5x, i didn't expect this to be THAT loud.... really it's freaking me out...

Nice hybrid CpTn!! I didn't catch this when you first posted it last week. Really sweet effort....and awesome damage.

It would be a nice touch to go ahead and show most of those pics in the post here...they are worthy. I like the use of the camp stove fuel cartridge...small and light.

Handheld hybrids are few and far between. Yours is a nice addition. Hurry up with the video....

It did, and sparks too .
The recoil is like I said pretty new to me. It's sharp and light with light ammo, but "slow" and much more heavy with heavier projectiles. I ust shot (3 mins ago) a pellet buckshot, all the pellets are flat, none did even puncture the 3/4" board. The cap used as sabot is flat too.
I sincerely don't understand why so many of us don't make hybrid spudguns. Steel is available, the few fittings you need don't cost an arm, plus, it's very easy to build and shoot. Everything has to be well thought before assembling, this is where all the trouble come from. And it is so much fun, I mean, the explosion sound it makes is just amasing.

I might buy a golfball barrel ^^ HGDT predicts some nice speeds

Later on this evening i'll upload a few-seconds video.
