Hey Guy.

Are you able to tell me what the diffrence between a Piston Valve and a Sprinkler valve is.

And also the Pros and Cons of both of them.

Cheers

Well for smaller guns Id use a Sprinkler valve, but for a larger cannon Id use a Piston Valve, howver the pros and cons are listed through out this site, just take some time and search. Im positive that you will find the info that you need.

They are simply two different types of spudgun valve

Sprinkler valves
PROS: easy to obtain, fast opening time, cheaper (at low sizes), decent performance
CONS: low flow, expensive at higher sizes, difficult to find larger sizes

Piston Valves
PROS: high flow, fast opening time, many sizes, cheaper at higher sizes (than sprinkler valves)
CONS: difficult to make (at first), more expensive for smaller sizes (compared to sprinkler valves), higher chance of failure (because they are homemade)

Overall, I like piston valves a lot more... I used dual sprinkler valves on a tennis ball gun, and my 2" inlet, 1.5" outlet piston valve literally dominates them; its barely a comparison

Good luck finding a 3" sprinkler valve... and if you do, itll be $600

A 3" piston valve is a fraction of the price

I recommend starting off with sprinkler valves, because building piston valves is difficult.[/u]

who said he needs a three inch sprinkler valve? a one inch sprinkler valve is plenty enough to get a tennis ball a football field.

edit: ok im retarded. i looked at another topic then went to this one and still thought i was on the other topic.

This has nothing to do with this thread. delete this post.

1) Who said he needs a 1" sprinkler valve
2) where are we talking about tennis balls
3) tennis balls barely fly anywhere... you would be hard pressed to send a regular tennis ball 100 yards with just a 1" sprinkler valve; you would need very high pressures
4) piston valve > spinkler valve BY A LOT

Who was talking about tennis ball cannons? You were buddy. And sprinkler valves if moded correctly can be almost as efficient as piston valves and much more cost effective. Whats up with the 3 inch sprinkler valve? you dont need to have a 3 inch sprinkler valve EVER! You are fine with a 3/4 or 1 inch one.
