These pictures are of a man who suffered from his own neglect while operating a lathe. This just goes to show that you should never let your guard down around power tools.
WARNING: These pictures are vary graphic
Edit:There is a mutilated dead body in these picures

Reading this thread will give you warning enough.
The reader will get a good idea of the danger involved when operating heavy machinery.
No need to confront younger members with horrific accident pictures.

I've seen it earlier... on one hand it might not be the best idea to post it here... though on the other it has some educational value (even if it's fake)

One of the reasons you don't wear loose clothing while operating spinning machinery. I can't tell if it's fake or not I can't see his head being pushed through there maybe up to his shoulder but past that I don't know either way a very good reminder to underestimate the danger of power tools.

Is he alright?
Blatantly tasteless jokes aside, a heads up for those always saying "OMG I need a lathe so I can [snip]", although I doubt a hobby-sized lathe could inflict such horrific results.

Damn, I wasn't expecting the pictures to be that bad. Even to someone with a 4chan background... seeing that wasn't pleasant. Stuff like that really reminds you to treat those machines with respect.

dam, that was very graphic, you ought to put in more warning than just "very graphic", like "if the very sight of blood makes you queasy you'll [poo] bricks"
but seriously you ought to mention that the picture contains a mutilated dead body so people know what to expect

I'm <s>getting</s> jaded - my first thought was "Looks like he got his shirt caught".
I don't want to sound utterly callous, but this kind of thing only really arises from neglect and carelessness, so while I'm not saying he deserved it, he probably did "bring it upon himself".
Pay attention and apply common sense, and you should be able to avoid this kind of thing happening to you. And for the gods' sake, if you DO get clothing caught in a lathe, hit the gorram brake immediately - the brake is designed to stop it. You are not.
I've told people that Googling for specific terms will provide them with VERY unpleasant images, to the point that some people are actually physically sick upon seeing them.
What usually then happens is that about two hours later, someone comes back telling me in very broken English that their keyboard isn't working properly because they vomited on it.
The problem is that people think "it can't be that bad", "he looked at it, so I must be able to put up with it" or their curiosity just plain gets the better of them - and they do it in spite of warnings.

That doesn't necessarily work.iknowmy3tables wrote:dam, that was very graphic, you ought to put in more warning than just "very graphic", like "if the very sight of blood makes you queasy you'll [poo] bricks"

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
Incredibly graphic images. A very stern and fair warning to all, I'd almost rather not get a large lathe and stick to my drill press after seeing those... but I doubt such injury (as mentioned before) could happen on a smaller lathe with less torque capability. Even so...

Hmm, you would think a high powered rifle would make more blood than a lathe. Are there any doctors/medical students who can tell me if that's real? Sorry I don't mean to sound insensitive but, It looks like the special effects from scanners.
