I have a combustion cannon that I power with aqua net blue hair spray. Are there any other hair sprays that work well? Also is there anything else besides hair spray I could use for fuel? Thanks :)

Propane, MAPP, but you will need a meter. Any flamable aerasol, axe... stuff like that. Oh yeah and bug spray...

EDIT: oops I missed the hair spray part. Well, axe, Sure...

If you're going to do a spray 'n' pray, I'd suggest just going for propane or MAPP if you have any around. I personally powered my first spray 'n' pray with a propane torch, works very well and gives a wide range of results.

The big problem with hairspray and other products is the residue.

I agree that ether would definatally work the best. I have a friend that shoots full cans of the stuff with a piece of burning paper next to the can. The fireball produce is quite spectacular.

Static Guard dude. I'm a huge fan of it. It's cheap, works well, won't gum up your chamber, doesn't release clouds of noxious smoke (bug spray) when you open your chamber, releases static from your dress pants too. I think the pants thing may have been an afterthought to the static guard people it works so well.

What spudblaster said, if you insist on spray-n-spray then engine starting fluid is the #1 (by a lot) choice.

Large containers of propane, MAPP etc. are just as good but they are more expensive since you'll need some type of valve. (They do have the advantage that they can later be used when you get a clue and move to some type of metering.)

A disposable butane lighter is also good, and is probably the cheapest possible fuel and has no significant disadvantages. A short piece of wire insulation is all that is needed to direct the fuel to where you want it.

Anything else is really a waste of time.

Please don't post any flaming projectiles. It is one of the fastest ways to get banned and a thread locked. Please read the rules.

RC car fuel should work very well. It is mostly Alcohol, a little bit of Nitomethane (5-15%) and either Castor oil or a synthetic oil. Do expect an oil film build up over time due to the lube in the fuel.

The projectile wasn't flaming, it just made a fire. Lots of people do that in videos... I remember mobile chernobyl did one with the 10 gal.

It's like shooting a can of paint with a pellet gun. that releases flammable gas from the can, which contacts the ignition source placed near the can, et voila, fireball.

Exactly, but I've never seen it done with paint before... I've seen it with deoderant and other aerosols.
