This is really starting to look nice.
Whats to stop you from putting a spring and a sear on the firing knob to actuate this with more of a conventional trigger?

I've been thinking about it. In that way it would be more like a bazooka.
I first want to be sure it works well, than I might put a firing system on

Or even a giant rifle like setup, provided you put a stock on it. More work than necessary, but it's always nice to kick these things up to the next level.

hmmm... minigun is the way to go I think.
I started drilling in the gas tank (it was ventilated first )
But the smell coming out of it was horrible. I think when i'm done, i'll clean it up with soap
I made a complete hole in the top of the tank.
I took a sniff, and I almost started puking
Now I try to remove the smell. Anyone has an idea?

Warm soapy water to cut the oils, followed by a hot rinse and dry quicky to prevent rust.Labtecpower wrote:I took a sniff, and I almost started puking

I cleaned the tank with warm water and soap. The smell isn't that bad anymore.
I'm thinking of burning the residues by putting rubbing alcohol in the tank, and then lighting it.
@jsr:
That one is VERY cool! definately putting a chainsaw handle on, if I get the chance!
If i do so, I want it to be in the centre of gravity.
Also,
I ran a model of the QDV trough a very crude physics simulator.
Here are the pictures;

Very nice. Can you round the corners of the end of the barrel slightly? I rounded the ports edges to both save the o rings from cuts and to reduce the edge drag.
I really like the wave front entering the barrel in the first photo. In reality, the opening time of the valve will not permit that sharp of a wave front in the barrel.
In comparison, how does this compare to a sprinkler valve? I suspect it flows much better from what I have seen. The bends internal to a sprinkler valve will not be friendly to that flow.

So how long until the tank is welded on?
How big is the tank by the way? I'm thinking along the lines of Tech's QDV cannons where he has a propane tank serving as the chamber.

Here's your barrel sealer
The tank will be welded when I have time for it. I first have to make the hole in the bottom of the tank
