It won't make a difference as to flow out the valve, and it makes the EQ hole in the diaphragm smaller so it is easier to pilot. The only hole to fill is the outside hole the electric solenoid was removed from. The other hole with the white filter is the EQ hole. Leave that one open.
alright, I feel really dumb right now, and I may have missed it, but if you click on the picture, you can see that there is a Hole and a "slit" that goes into the valve. I plug both the hole and the slit, correct?

ok, so I finally got all of my other school work out of the way and started assembly. I have everything done except I am waiting for the apoxy to dry on my sprinkler valve and then It should be assembled. I'm hoping that I will have it complete by tomorrow, upon which I will post pictures. (however it will not be painted yet)
HALP!!!! So I finally got it completely assembled. I went to test it and it didn't work
the sprinkler would go off, but the valve wouldn't move. At first I thought it was because the hole in my bumper was restricting the airflow, so I made it bigger. I tried to fire it again and it didn't work, and the piston seemed to be "seized up" because it was not separating from the sealing face even after there was no pressure in the gun, So I had to take my ramrod and physically separate it from the sealing face. So I took it apart again and and examined the piston. I decided to put some silicone lubricant (used to lube paintball guns internals) and lathered on the piston. I then proceeded to go test it again, and IT WORKED!!!!!
So I grabbed my brother and a video camera and we went to test it in the backyard, we forgot to tape the first shot due to excitement (see picture) but remembered to tape the second. (see video)
Anyways I've shot it about 10-20 times thus far but murphy and his laws have struck again..... I've been shooting it at 60-80 psi, and it's worked wonderfully, but when I tried to fire it at 100 psi, the sprinkler went off as usual, however piston seized up again. So I've taken it apart and took picture of the parts. the piston is still quite slippery and nothing seems to have changed, except that there is a depression one the pistons rubber face. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. At this point I'm rather frustrated.

I don't see how if it works at 60-80 psi it doesn't work at 100... but in my experience, stupid problems like that usually iron themselves out

Just an update, I got it to work properly and have done a little bit of testing. I also worked on the aesthetics a little bit. so here's a picture. tell me what you think. oh yea, and the Bi-pod is removable and the part it mounts on can act as a fore-grip.

Looks good! Only thing I can suggest (too late) would have been to grind down the lips on those two bushings at the front of the valve and trim slightly in length to butt up the 2" female adapter to the 2" tee (click for larger image).

But pretty is as pretty does, some full power, un-piston-interrupted video shots would be cool.

PVC is slighly flexible. Under pressure it inflates slightly. This increases the leakage past the piston. This is one possibility. The other possibility is at higher pressure there is more air in the gap so the air that does bypass the piston is able to expand more in the pilot keeping the pressure relatively high holding the piston closed.Gun Freak wrote:I don't see how if it works at 60-80 psi it doesn't work at 100... but in my experience, stupid problems like that usually iron themselves out
The fix for both is a felt and grease seal, o rings, or other effective obstruction to excess leakage past the piston into the pilot.
I had the same issue at times with the Mouse Musket when using a blowgun trigger. A better fit on the replacement piston and a layer of grease fixed the problem.
As for aesthetics, Pink.. are you serious? Flat black or fluorescent orange would be my suggestions.
