I don´t know :? just normal stainless steel tubes used for water...
OD wound be 22mm
You use stainless for plumbing pipe? :? If that's the case, phone a plumber and ask them what type of stainless it is...look up the material properties of that type.

Will suggest you do a google search on Barlow's formula.

My humble suggestion is to assume that it will be unsafe, and buy pressure rated pipe. You may be spending more money, but personally I'd rather spend a few dollars here, than a few hundred dollars in the emergency room if the pipe in question were to give way to the pressure.
Yeah, it's that important.

Yes, any fittings you make will fail long before the pipe itself does.

Would there be a noticeable difference in performance between a barrel sealer and a chamber sealer inside the same tee sealing against a 1/2" nipple?

Possibly. The one with the seat ratio closest to 1:1 would perform better. It would allow the pilot to be more empty when the valve opened, so it would experience more force for a greater opening time. For a reasonable tee size and port diameter, this is the barrel sealer

Also, the chamber sealer will likely have more dead volume.

Not sure if you mean better time or bigger time. Because it would be a shorter opening time.

I know that golf balls are about 1.68", but how consistent are they? Would they get jammed in a 1.68 ID aluminum tube?

Damn, that was pretty dumb wording.

I have a short question of my own:

Is there a reasonable way to exceed the performance of the following cannon scheme without going hybrid?

Barrel limited to 4-6" long

1. Fill chamber completely with liquid nitrogen (no gas space)
2. Seal chamber
3. Allow LN2 to "evaporate" into supercricical fluid
4. Dump with balanced hammer valve.

This would theoretically give me about 700 bar (expansion ratio of LN2 is ~1:700. Liquid Helium, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Neon are higher, but more expensive or reactive.

Out of curiosity, what is the bore of said setup?
