HA. Knew we would get a good reaction. Ok, I am taking the picture down now that JSR has seen it.

I have also developed this habit, but I haven't broken anything yet.MrCrowley wrote:I've got in to a habit of having my phone screen face my leg in my pocket because I cracked the screen when hitting it on the side of the car door as I was exiting.
I don't think it would be that hard to make an app to accomplish the shooter locating thing.
I wonder if you could come up with an actual position, or just a direction.

I'm pretty sure the iphail has a mono-mic, and with that - I started thinking "I'm not too sure about that" when I read your post... but using a known obstruction in the way of a field for the mic can create some interesting effects - sorta like our ears!ramses wrote: .....

Crafty programming can fix just about anything!
although lots of mics placed in precision locations like the boomerang can make the job a lot easier!

If you have two of those devices, you could triangulate and get a precise fix. Assuming, that is, that you live long enough to read it and act on the info. Once a sniper has a fix, they can crank through rounds pretty quickly, if they need.mobile chernobyl wrote:I'm pretty sure the iphail has a mono-mic, and with that - I started thinking "I'm not too sure about that" when I read your post... but using a known obstruction in the way of a field for the mic can create some interesting effects - sorta like our ears!ramses wrote: .....

BTW, yes, the iBone has only a single mic, like just about every other smart phone. I think there might be a few Androids that have a stereo-mic setup, but I'm not sure.
Now, for my fun day: Had a massive cyst form on the back of my left shoulder over the last few days. Today I went in to get it lanced at the local Urgent Care... Doc says it's from a staph infection, but only a minor one. Which made me look at him funny, because the d*** thing felt like an Alien chest-burster was having a go at me.
Came away with a chunk of gauze the size of a golf ball stuffed into my shoulder and a scrip for Vicodin that took an hour to fill at Wally World. Of course, the local anesthetic started wearing off after twenty minutes...
By the time I had pills in hand, I was sweating and trying not to faint...
Of course, the first dose of Vicodin wore off a bit before I was due for the second, at around 9PM. Didn't feel anything till I got up, and it started to hurt. By the time I got back in bed, the pain was so intense I was having muscle spasms and my teeth were chattering. Do you know that EVERY movement the human body makes causes the muscles attached to the shoulder blade to move? Even just wiggling your TOE?
Fun, fun...
