Hello all, I'm new here, and I decided to join when I read some of JSR's innovative stuff, and really when I read "Hotwired's" stun-gun thread.

Anyway, I am building something pneumatic right now.
I have some (bunch) of funding from a recent inheritance.

I will be going on a road-trip, and staying in cheap motels, maybe even camping, while searching for new residence (In Florida)...

I Thought of bringing, a firearm, course there's laws about crossing state lines with one...was going to order a "Cap-n-ball revolver" but they're single action, clunky, and prone to miss-fires as well.

Figure for the same budget (Three or $400) I could build an AWESOME pneumatic,
while not needing to worry about the legality (Thank, God to be American, and I hope this Don't break the rules here either)...

Here's what I "got":
I want to pipe a bulk CO2 into a pressure washer handle,
That will inject striaght CO2 into whatever...
Which I plan to be a steel pipe around 1.5 Inch diameter.

For the" valve" I'm hoping to have a "burst-disc" type method.
The CO2 will go into perhaps a glass -bottle that will burst,
the wadding in front will have about 30-40+ .375 diameter lead balls @ around 500 or 600 FPS, (I;m fine with that).

There may be TWO barrels.
Also I have some ideas for sort of a "Venturi" type BBMG, that will be large caliber above this BIG barrel.
The magazine will be pressurized like a "Cloud" ,
Except, gas from behind with HIGHER volume will project the round.
I'd like to use JSR's original design of BALL-DETENT , so each round will be in the barrel at a single flow, (Rather than several being sucked /shot out)

Man I really thank God for JSR ...I mean GOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!!!
Ball detent IS THE KEY I Believe.

Please inform me or provide me link to study, where I can find material that will burst at around EXACTLY full co2 pressure please I'm mostly asking here.
Dang Long post! (Thanks for reading/ replies) 8)

Thought of bringing, a firearm
This worries me.
You seem to be looking for a firearm substitute.
You do realise a spudgun is not and should never be intended for protection right?

Please correct me if I'm wrong..

No .
I don't agree, so I guess I'm here to correct you.

IF I can shoot 30-40 + .375" lead balls at 500 or 600 FPS, using this simple design...Well you are wrong sir, srry to say.
I'd prefer that over a clunky single action ,prone to missfire muzzleloading revolver.
SPEED is EVERYTHING somtimes.
AND this will ALSO have a large BBMG, venturi design mounted above.

Otherwise, I'd order a "Howda pistol" or REmington '58 or, colt saa 1873 in black-powder (Which are about 100 times more prone to "chain-fires")
OR I'd get a walker ....But I am 100% sure that SOON the DEATHSTAR will BE FULLY OPERATIONAL, SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a mod, and I'm assuming you've read the rules but they state:
Discussion of shooting anything at any person and/or animal is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account.

The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers.
Solid propellant: Any substance containing all the chemical elements required to enable sustained combustion without the presence of additional oxidizers. This includes but is not limited to gunpowder, thermite, and many commercial and/or homemade pyrotechnic compounds.

For this purpose, nitroglycerine, though liquid, would qualify.
For this purpose, ordinary flour, though solid, would not qualify.

Yeah, you should probably check out a different forum for that sort of stuff... If you're that concerned, buy a tazer or something.

Since being a moderator does not mean I am naturally right I have reopened this topic so DEATHSTAR can explain what he means.

When in doubt about a matter like this , believe me, I want to be corrected.

Tell me I'm misunderstanding this:

tHANKS BTB!
I apologize to have gotten off "on a bad foot" with yourself.
You are one of my all-time most awesome "spudders",
So it was a little disapointing to have offended you BTB.

I want to share my sort of "Venturi" based ideas.
Like stated earlier I believe the "key" is with JSR's "Ball-detent" ...

(anyway thanks!
I am at home sick today.
I am never sick so this really sucks ).

I'll go to a doctor tommorrow If i'm not feeling better.
Just checking back in is all. Thanks.
Just wanted to reply back really is all.
Alright fine, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Thanks BTB, you don't know how awesome it is for myself to get reply from you, JSR, Mr.Crowley, Hotwired, etc.
...Awesome!!! Thanks! 8) (Got to go I feeling like I may barf).

I never felt offended. :?:

My job here ( why aint I getting paid? :D ) is to make sure the rules are followed and stuff doesn't get out of hand.
I am never personally offended by rulebreaking and in this case I am unclear if that is even the case.
I am sincerely worried though.
Sucking up to me is always appreciated but that is not what I'm after right now.

You must really be quite sick. :D
I re-opened this so you can clarify your intentions with this topic.
I'm still waiting for that.

Yeah , I was quite sick. My two daughters seem to be little germ "carriers"
sometimes...
To clarify my intentions, I was simply stating ballistics is ALL.
I mean If I'm camping, etc. why would I spend the money for an inferior arm (well "projectile shooter" let's say then) than build my own pneumatic,
which is not governed by so many legalities???

I'm from USA, where "firearms" are not such a big deal.
Course there sill are legal issues.
I certainly would NEVER contribute to have new legislation passed against pneumatics in any way.
I really just was trying to explain my budget/ compared to my options was all.

Once again, srry to have gotten off on a "bad foot" mr. BTB, some of your designs are my ALL-TIME favorites still today.
My unexpected "budget" has caused myself a re-interest in basically a youthfull , childhood hobby is all.
The Love of shooting projectilery will remain with US for life perhaps ...I feel it.
My respect for my favorite spudders and their designs will as well.
...I'm feeling a little better today, but still home sick today.

I like your PNuzi! I hope to share some ideas on my own versions soon BTB. (No pics for now, but I think If I explain the mechanism you'll understand).
Thanks!!! 8)

If you wish to build a spud cannon for enjoying the hobby of spudding more power to you AND we will be glad to help you with any plans you present to us.

Above is a direct quote of your intentions with this thread and is deemed prohibited by us moderators. By the way your planned cannon sounds do-able so try again, but stay with in the forum rules.

Welcome to Spudfiles.
