im just asking before i start a tread about silencers, since i know its illegal in some states in usa.

Silencers aren't outright illegal in the states (under federal law anyway), you just can't own/build one without paying a mandatory $200 tax stamp fee. There's only been one conviction that I remember involving an airgun silencer. Just don't talk about doing anything that's stupid/dangerous and you probably don't have to worry.
