I am on a limited budget for my first major project to be posted on the fourms, my budget is $25 for the 1/2 inch QEV and the blowgun
Concerns:
How much pressure do the cheap ebay QEV's take?
What about the pressure on the cheapo blowguns.
**im planning to go to 250-300 PSI**
As usual thanks a lot guys for the support throughout the planning of my project.

If you are ordering the blowgun from mcmasters, than I suggest you get your qev from them as well. They are a few bucks more, but in my opinion a much better valve. However, if you must go with one that you listed, I would go with the first one..

If you're buying the eBay QEV (which I reccomend over any other valve of that size) you should also think about ordering a cheap slide valve to give you the option of semi automatic fire in the future. About the same price as a blowgun, with an extra feature.

Unsurprisingly, I concur. Though I don't know if eBay slide valves can take 300 psi without leaking, unless you go for the paintball ones.Lockednloaded wrote:If you're buying the eBay QEV (which I reccomend over any other valve of that size) you should also think about ordering a cheap slide valve to give you the option of semi automatic fire in the future.

Not in my experience. I have used one at 200psi, and it developed a small leak. Also starts to get very hard to actuate at anything over 150 psi.Unsurprisingly, I concur. Though I don't know if eBay slide valves can take 300 psi without leaking, unless you go for the paintball ones.
no experience with the paintball type.

Have taken my slide valve plus QEV (both from ebay and are the cheapest I could found) to 500 psi, without problems.
Slide valve does give you semi-auto, but remember, they aren´t as confortable to use as a blowgun.

So what pressure do you think a cheap black square style QEV could be taken up too?

so if i use the semi auto method such as this, which is a screw in the blowgun to regulate how long it pilots for, will i need a bleed hole in the piston?

I had a cheap ebay 1/4" Qev and 1/4" Slide valve that i took to 1000 Psi and managed to fire it without problems apart from the occasional leak, they work fine under 700 Psi.
Where's my Chuck key?
