No, the capacitor goes in series with the stun gun, positive terminal to negative. You've got the resistor right though.

I reckon a 4700 micro farad cap should do the trick, they're pretty cheap, and you'll only need 16 volt caps. If it doesn't run for long enough, then chuck another cap in parallel. Would be worth buying a few, it's a handy size for power supplies too.

Certainly, I used http://www.CircuitLab.com for this, I just screencapped, couldn't be bothered signing up. It's also got a neat little simulator, which might be fun to play with

Didn't have time to fix the ignition shutoff system duo to my girlfriend but I thought I really should fire this beauty one last time this summer.
So I made 8 rounds with 10mm steel balls candle wax saboted to match the 12mm barrel bore. They turned out to be a really simple way for a perfect match between sub caliber ammo and barrel.

Went to shoot this one last time this summer holiday :(
Cut 13 burst discs, 13 deadly bullets...
Only 5 shoots was made, witch 4 of them are badly recorded... All because a stupid ignition problem, witch I mentioned here
This thing IS wonderful, but just too loud to use :? ... There is no neighbour nice enough to deal with all these BANGs.
More video to come, sorry they are not edited, so they are kind full of crap, but I+m out of time.

I was going to shoot it some where else but the ignition just needed to be repaired so I ended up shooting there

Annoying, right? It gets to the point where you can only shoot them a handful of times each year; and a lot of those times you can't shoot the ammo/target you want for safety or transport reasons.

Spudder's heaven: the workshop from Mythbuster's, a few acres of land and all the targets you can dream of.

Nice video by the way. I remember a time when you weren't so keen on building hybrids
It's good to have another member putting out updates and videos of their hybrid.

So true, every time I tried to shoot it, I need help of at least one friend, at least one day free to do the preparation...

Thanks, once the mix problem it´s solved, they will fire after I push the ignition bottom. I probably will keep upgrade this gun, it´s the most attention seeking thing in my collection :) Now I just wish I can get a bigger chamber :?

I find it too stressful having friends helping me out haha, they're just another factor to take in to account. I don't think most people realise the effort that goes in to just being able to fire one of these when you live in areas like ours. Especially when I'm firing a projectile, I get quite stressed about safety and not being able to control the situation entirely (i.e. stop the public from passing by). I usually seem to have a little bit of short term memory loss and can't remember ~20 seconds before and after firing the gun; think it's the adrenaline.

Though, that's only the experience when I'm shooting the piston hybrid at that navy base area or at home. When I'm up at my friend's bach, it's a much more enjoyable experience knowing that you can take your time and control the environment better. Though, I usually can't take any targets up with me because I have a hard enough time convincing my friend to let me take the cannon when the car is already pretty full with people and bags.

And like you said, you can spend a day organising everything. I usually find a day that I can borrow the car from my dad (would rather spend money on a cannon than a car at this stage) and when I'm not busy with uni/assignments. Then it's usually a good idea to do some checks in the days leading up so you can make sure nothing has started leaking or got broken from the last time the cannon was fired. If I'm firing at home, I have to wait for most of my neighbours to leave and the kids over at the school to go back inside after lunch. If I'm going to a location, you have to pack everything up in to the car, then unpack it and sort everything out for the shot, then pack it up again and unpack it again back at home, download the video files and edit a video.

I admit it's not always that strenuous, especially when firing my smaller hybrid (which is still without a barrel after the 'incident' 7 months ago), but recently it's been pretty difficult.

Well, this turned in to a bit of a rant. Sorry for the hijack :D

Befriend someone with a welding set. Find a lightweight and reasonably strong pressure vessel and sleeve it over the barrel, adding porting at the muzzle.

Exactly, one of the mistakes I made was not testing the spark gap with higher pressure.

I can´t drive yet, so I have to take the gun by parts, and it takes at least 5min to put everything together with tools, witch means I still have to bring a small tool bag with me :? and if anything goes wrong(police, gangster etc...) I´d rather run with all the stuff with the help of my friends or worst case, leave them there

adding porting at the muzzle.
the clean look of the gun will be destroyed :( about the muzzle exit, only one shot it´s needed  the box that was 1mm steel walled, the 2.5g steel ball went through both sides.
