I was wondering if anyone had ever built their own portable compressor, so I researched and found nothing. I then decided I liked the idea of plugging in a compressor into my cannon making it very easy for me to experiment with full auto/semi auto in the future.

The idea is on all my chambers for future pneumatic cannons, i will have an electronic safety shutoff valve that is also connected to a quick disconnect that will plug into the compressor.

When i plugin the compressor i will have an anode and cathode that will complete the circuit for my electric motor wich includes the safety shutoff valve.

Its pretty simple in concept but there will have to be lots of tinkering to get it to work.

I plan on definetley using steel parts for this project. Pipes will be used to house all the compressor parts. probably use a tee and steel pipe.

Edit: By portable mini compressor i mean a compressor that can be intergrated into your gun, cannon, rifle whatever by just plugging it into a pre made slot. Similar idea of a battery.

Have a look here: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/self-po ... 19402.html

Cheaper and easier to buy something like this and adapt it:

Thats awesome!! Now i dont have to make a motor and i can pillage the compressor for parts so i can pimp it out. (What pimp really means is to make a larger piston chamber to pump more air with each stroke so its compatible with much larger chamber sizes, also i will probably have to increase the current of the motor to maximize torque).
Awell thx again, now we have a topic that has an image of a simple compressor on the forums. Not sure if i helped or not but you definetely have :)

Just a warning, these small compressors are pretty bad, mainly because they overheat and break down. Instead of trying to make the piston bigger and stress it even more, I would leave it as it is and focus on cooling, like adding heat sinks, cooling fan, water jacket or similar.

Ile look into it, I was thinking i may have to build my own casing for the piston and motor whilst also also creating away for me to auto cool the motor using the inlet as a means to move the air through.
