You know, I took your design a little further and made several derivations, after all I think the pilot unit has much potentials. I'd like to show them all but right now I can do anything also I've bigger plans for my machines... I'll post diagrams tomorrow.

I love the pilot setup and stock, I don't have the craftsmanship to make the stock, so I just copied your pilot system
The epoxy's drying in my 1/8" nipple connecting the blowgun handle, so if my tests tomorrow workout, I'll post some pics here

Here goes probably the worst diagram I've ever made.
The idea is instead of drill the exhaust port on the nozzle of the blowgun, drill just one hole and epoxy a tube on it (yellow part) with a tire schrader valve(brown part) epoxyed on the tube pointing to the trigger. Then glue a m3 screw (light blue) on the trigger the way it could push open the schrader valve. The spring (red) is there to push the trigger forward so the screw can keep the schrader valve open also when you pull the trigger, the schrader valve will be closed before the trigger starting to open the blowgun valve.
So when you pull the trigger, the schrader valve is shut, the air only fills up the space of the nozzle of the blowgun giving a short burst out of the QEV, when the trigger is released, blowgun is shut and the screw pushs open the schrader valve to exhaust the trapped air inside the nozzle.
Here is what I have now, fires .177 pellets and arrows. It's way louder in real life

I personally went with a more minimalist setup, mainly because I was using spare parts

Hey wyz i had a similer idea, what if you just glued a popoff over the hole ?
I like how my gun influenced both of yours

A pop off will give you full auto if you don't close the blowgun fast enough. For semi auto you need to have a shut space to temporarily storage the air for the QEV to give a burst and only exhausted after the blowgun has closed. A pop off will open the same time you pull the trigger, not afterwards.

For semi auto i would suggest a 3 way valve, filling the air chamber through the pilot in the resting position, and shutting off the air supply and venting the pilot area when you actuate it.
You can also include a single acting cylinder in this concept, loading a round to the barrel after each shot

@Gunfreak: thanks, the look is kinda growing on me, but I can hardly fight the urge to do some serious body work (polymorph, aluminum siding, etc) Since this was more of a spare parts build (all I bought were the hose and hose fittings) I'll have to slap a sight on it and call it a day
@Major Collins: I'll give credit where credit is due, I love this pilot setup
@tigerblues: I'll probably avoid the trouble of painting, I've got a few too many projects on my plate at the moment (my jeep: Just Empty Every Pocket is really holding true) but I'll probably throw a sight on at some point for hunting those pesky "cans" running around my backyard. I should be able to get some chrony readings on standard blowgun darts at bike pump pressures, but it shouldn't be too impressive really

Hmmm. I think you could replace the blow gun with a pressure washer, make a steel QEV and a steel chamber and hike the pressure up to 800 to 1000. Maybe MOOARR POWWA
