Remedy Metal Longshot

Miniature guns are novelty custom, unique, and sometime downright crude! Common construction materials often include pill bottles or pens. Show us your work!

WOW! new updates! This place looks so great now! anyway, I noticed no posts in the Nerf section, so I thought I'd kick it off.

This is my Remedy Metal Longshot. It's a full Remedy Metal internal kit, with a spring load of ~20kg (44lbs). I've also reinforced the trigger with a cut down 14g bicycle spoke glued in to the groove on each side. Priming handle is Xplorer grip, sights are Slydev 3d printed and all locks have been removed. Clocked at 197fps using aftermarket heavy silicon tip darts. I'm pretty sure If I can manage to make a lighter plunger and plunger rod and maybe a slightly longer barrel, it will crack well over 200fps, a stainless steel plunger and rod with a tight fitting o-ring really isn't the best for performance.

Now that's a Nerf gun!!

Have you thought about making the plunger/piston out of aluminum, or a strong plastic like delrin? Also have you shoved anything else down the barrel other than Nerf darts?

I had thought about delrin, but I haven't found the time to take measurements and draft a plunger up yet. Also, it'd probably be fairly expensive getting a one off plunger. I might see if I can shoot potato out of it, I wouldn't be surprised if it can.

Not bad.

Have you thought of replacing that horrible conglomeration of springs with a gas ram?

Certainly custom Nerf is one of the markets that LeMaudit and I want to break into, this section could get interesting...

I was going to ask him if he could fit 2 more on there and break the 200 fps threshold! :bom:

Custom Nerf is still a relatively untouched region at the moment, there are aftermarket makers out there, but as far as I know remedy metal is now defunct, leaving xplorer which is expensive, orange mod works which is by many opinions not that great quality and slydev, which is limited to small 3d printed parts. I'd love to see someone build a nerf gun for more competitive use. I have tons of ideas but not the time or money to invest properly, one idea uses the gas ram idea too. I certainly hope the wizards on this forum have a crack at some mad science applied to nerf, it'd be interesting indeed!

nice i would not use a gas ram i would just use a qev set up ,nice to see the website is working properly (minus a few mess ups by pc guy but he is pretty awsome considering all the awsome updates.) also if you look around the forum when it is finished you can find what that is or if your gonna keep with the springs try using a golfball piston(piston made from a golf a golfball with some rubber on the face and posibly an oring for a better seal) also try lubing the piston with some silicon oil or somthin.
when life gives you lemons... make root beer and leave the world wondering how you did that :D

probably going to stick a QEV in a max force shadow hawk if I was going to go air powered. and maybe some sort of 3 way valve filling and exhausting. But, I haven't really had enough time to plan out the build yet.
