A larger smoothbore definitely gives you a lot of options in terms of projectiles, I love my Farco

Just playing with an old 5/3 air pilot valve and a small push button 3/2 for the trigger, this actually works for a single shot, if I take the plug out of the port on the bottom right it goes full auto crazy it dumps the pilot air, closes the valve which brings back the pilot air, not what I want but pretty neat if I did.

Going to make a 4.5mm BB gun, not sure if it will end up being select fire or full auto. Using wood for the first time, the body will be 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood joined together, magazine will be spiraled around the chamber and be air fed from air bleed off the barrel. Should hold at least 200 bbs.

Here's something I pondered a while back, with the air both pushing the BBs down the mag and firing them, limited by a detent.



The issue with detent type mechanisms as I found here is that the next BB tends to block off the flow for the one in the barrel before it leaves the muzzle.

One solution is to have a "blocker" that allows air to go through but doesn't let another BB feed until the chamber depressurizes, but it all gets a little complex:



It sort-of worked but lacked reliable feeding in the prototype I made, didn't take it further though:

I got one of these coils which is a perfect fit around 1" stainless tubing, also will be able to see the BB's inside, going to fill it from the back through a capped T fitting

The air from the barrel probably won't give you consistent feeding, from my experience what happens with magazines like this is like the Schrodinger's cat, never know when the pressure is pushing the bbs to feed or the Venturi effect is sucking them other way. The magazine need to be more linear to the barrel so the pressure is high enough. But that's back when I didn't have a steady air supply. worked well for this guy tho

In my case, the shutter of the BBs worked quite well. The BB that goes off always comes out, and then the other enters. Cute project farcticox 1
