Quite an interesting achievement but they really need to optimize the projectiles. The velocities they are getting are in the 200 feet per second range which is more arrow than airgun territory, although admittedly that's with projectiles five times heavier than your typical .22 pellet. Make it shoot flechettes and it will be a lot more impressive in terms of accuracy and effect on target.

Some pretty impressive footage of what can be achieved with compressed gas when taken to extremes :o

ITWOST:

Got some new camera gear and figured I'd take a closer look at one of the "good" piston valves I've made recently.

There's a lot more work on the completed project because I want to do silly sh*t, but another small anecdote: you ever head of FOGBANK? It's some space-magic aerogel stuff they made to put in thermonuclear weapons, except when they went to make more a few decades later to modernize the warheads, they couldn't. It felt like that making a bolt piston. I made a technically "more sound" floating o-ring piston that completely didn't seal or work at all, and just made the same piston as was originally in Thorondor with the same kind of tooling restrictions, and it worked the first time.

Update on the current project and a little sneak peek: still lots to do (polishing valve seat, rebuilding piston to track more cocentric, some funny stuff with the barrel, a way to aim more better), but I managed to put a hole in my box spring with some supposedly "low power" testing and a plastic 12ga shotgun wad. :p
