It's a good idea, but I think you should strive for somthing original/new.
I mean, experament-u2 has always been thinking original(famas, bleedin raven) Brian the brain is an amazing inovator (hell, when I look at his guns I'm afraid the're gunna jump off the internet and kill me!)
And schmanman! Hell, he took spudding to the next level. Who needs grocery stores when you can get a bag of potatoes shot right to your door!
Anyway, strive for a new design. Like a new valve, or an acetylene powered gun that shoots clams.

I recently obtained some 2" steel fittings..
I'm simply going for a large scale copy of my own sawed-off....capable of taking pressures up to 40 bar.( yes.. I plan to fire a 2"projectile at over half a tonne of force with a handheld!!)
Not very innovating, just plain brutal..
I'll call it U.D.U.
Ultimate Destruction Unit.
Same old design, just way more powerful!!
What does that have to do with this topic??
I say it's okay to build something that's been done before.
The concept has been proven to work well and you can have lots of fun with it.
This way you can get familiar with the hobby.
Save the rest for later.

Just scale it down from what ever it is too .50 caliber to shoot marbles.
There’s your step by step directions.
What about this thing makes it a “sniper” a sniper is a person, that’s a gun that couldn’t even be used as a sniper rifle, if you make a marble gun that could “pick the fleas off a dog’s back at 500 yards” then maybe you could call it a sniper, but doubt that you could hit a dog at 50 yards with that. And don’t call it a “rifle” because it’s not, it’s a smooth bore. Not trying to flame you just I get sick of clicking on the “my new rifle” link expecting to see a rifle, only to find a glorified small bore smoothbore air gun. What’s really annoying is the “my new sniper rifle” which must be how he says “my new small bore, long barreled with a suppressor bolt action smooth bore air gun” or “my new gun that really sucks but I think it looks cool” once again not trying to offend you just trying to figure out why you guys can’t just call it a “small bore pneumatic mid range plinker” or “bolt action marble gun”?

I understand the difference between rilfed and smoth bore barrels and I think most do. But instead of saying " Not trying to flame you" , don't. Give him and all of us little inovative ideas to actually build "Rifles" and help the ones who don't know the difference (I'm not wanting plans or your designs to build a smooth bore gun or rifled barreled gun). I just recently found this website and I'm very interested, but I'm still very green. Everytime I log on I see more and more new members and the vetrans of this "Sport" should help us noobs out. I've made a couple of mistakes not knowing any better and I recieved nasty responses. I'm not asking for please and thank you, just a little courtesy. Anyone please respond.

Yes, well, I meant no offence to anybody, I just wish people would stop calling there smoothbore a rifle, it’s confusing, if I came across offensive sorry.
You said you were interested in homemade rifles, well check out my idea for a
paint ball rifle which I’m still planning on making, construction shall begin by next month.

Dude, who cares?
If somone wants to call there gun a "rifle" or "sniper" Is it really gunna kill you not to lecture them about how its a smoothbore?
I mean, people may call there air cannons or combustions "spud-guns" even though they may have never shot a potato in there life.

I agree with Killa, does it really matter, The site is called 'spudfiles' yet half the cannons dont shoot spuds. If you(as in the builder of the gun) think it looks or resembles a rifle I dont see why that person cant call it a rifle instead of a 'smooth-bore' which sounds boring and gay(no offence)

compared to "rifle" or 'sniper'

I read your post on a rifled paintball gun, nice design by the way. Unfortunatly I know nothing about paintball so I don't hold a position on which barrel is better. But thanks for the response and and good luck on your RIFLE.lol
