We've all had our "blonde moments". Glad you didn't get hurt.

Making sure of your backstop is very important - especially with "real guns" which can easily penetrate the intended target and keep going. Even with spudguns, I make sure there's nothing "important" behind whatever I'm shooting at - I've had a stray spud almost hit my car once, and I've been extra careful about my backstop since then.
Also, when shooting almost straight-up for hang time, make sure there's no wind - I learned that one the hard way. I was cleaning potato bits off my BBQ for a few hours after that, and if it had gone another foot the wrong direction it would have broken a window. If there is any wind, shoot well into it.

Me and my brother were playin with a bbmg (cloud - metal bb) and he just started shootin his truck for no apparent reason. . I learned to shoot against the wind the hard way because I shot a golfball at a target and the wind blew it into a tree ( or i had a bad aim ) and it came back right between my upper lip and nose. It hurt.

Nice one.

One time when I was about 16, my friends and I were way the hell out in the woods (we found a gravel pit about 7 miles from any paved road - we shoot out there every couple weekends) shooting some old junk. We found an old white BBQ size (I think 5 gallon) propane tank laying around, cracked the valve open a bit and discovered that it still had some propane in it. So we put it on a tree stump about 150-200 yards away from our shooting spot, and started shooting at it to see if it'd blow up. I hit it with my .22 pistol, and the round ricocheted back and hit me in the forehead. Thankfully, it was far enough away that the bullet didn't have enough energy left to break skin - but it left a little welt on my forehead for a few days. I never shot at anything metal (or as hard as metal) with a .22 again. Bigger guns will pierce metal, but .22s just bounce...

This should probably be moved to the "stupid things you've done" thread, but it was directly related to our conversation, so I posted it here. Hope the mods don't mind.

edit: my dad has an OLD, i mean OLD propane tank thats all rusted and stuff, been in a garage closet with rock salt and water. It still has propane in it.

As a short story for being redundant on the needing of a backstop, when my dad and his brother were in their teens, they were plinking stuff with their .22s without a bckstop, and accidentally shot and killed their neighbor's cow, which they had to pay for.

Spudbucks and rank are unrelated - you get spudbucks based on the length of each post (5 max per post), you gain rank by number of posts (for example, you "level up" every 50 or 100 posts, etc...)

Probably a good idea to get rid of that tank before it ruptures... By the way, we figured out that regular bullets wont blow them up, but tracers do

I'm probably going to use the rest of the propane in the tank for my ghetto bottle cap shooter. If I had a welder I'd make a pulse jet engine and use the propane for it.

Fellow spudder's.....I'm over spudguns. I've put too much time and effort into them. Because I have arthritis, my hands aren't as nimble as they were and because of this, I've just f*cked up my new 30 buck Irrigation Valve. I've put too much time and money into this sh*t only for to completely stuff up.....and if anyone thinks I'm an old fart because I've got arthritis, I'm only 17.

Well it's pretty obvious that I shouldn't try and mod irrigation valve's. If I ruin it which I more then likely will, thats 20 bucks down the drain. But I have heard from so many people that the Piston Valve are the best to use. plus if I stuff up the part, thats only 3 bucks down the drain. What should I do? Keep trying or just pack up my gear, throw it in a box in the back of shed and try something new or try a different option?

Great looking Coaxial c19o. How quick does it shoot and what psi do you use?

Thanks, at 125 psi, it will shoot faster than my pumpmaster 760 bb gun ant it shoots about 630 fps. And that aluminum in my pics was REALLY hard. When you shoot it you hear a sharp crack, so im guessing its pretty powerful. When i get a co2 regulator, ill buy co2 tanks and up the pressure to like 200. If I ever build a copper or steel marble gun ill go like 300 or higher
