Here it is, folks. The most recent development from ÜberComputer Studios, Ltd. This is Loki, a self-contained, electrically driven, air-fired, compact and portable air cannon.
It boasts a fully metal construction, with the exception of the air valve, which is PVC. The Barrel Is 36" Long and the unit is approx 50 inches in overall length, making it compact and easy to travel with. The barrel simply threads out for loading and cleaning purposes, and is tightened with the barrel handle (tool less breakdown).
The unit is pressure regulated for accurate and even shots and is reinforced to withstand torsion and shock very well. Not necessary for accuracy, rather ruggedness and field durability.
This Unit also Sports a special flow corrector which was designed to help establish initial projectile movement, resulting in a shorter time to transfer from static friction to dynamic friction. (Greater load acceleration and higher muzzle velocity).
It also features a high-flow Modified Sprinkler Valve, and on-board 12v air compressor. This unit is capable of reaching 200 psi, as tested during the build. It has been pressurized to 110 psi, and does not have a single hiss or slow leak.
*This Runs on a 12v. Car Cigarette Lighter Plug and charges in 30 seconds!

VERY nice design. I've never seen an all-metal gun with on-board compressor before. I'm not sure pressurizing a sprinkler valve to 200psi is a great idea unless it's rated for it - most are rated for 150 tops - though I doubt it'd blow.
I'm impressed. This is a very unique gun. Great design, great build - looks extremely clean and sturdy.
More details on this "flow corrector", please. I assume it goes between the valve and barrel? How does it help to provide better flow? I'd think that anything besides a wide open pipe would just cause air restriction...
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

wow. I'm definately going to try the onboard compressor thing over the summer. The only thing I worry about is most people say they die quickly. I've got one thats supposed to go to 250 psi and is smaller than my shoe. Ive never got it past 220 though.
Maybe you could put a couple 6v batteries in series and make it completely mobile. Assuming they put out the amps your compressor requires.

If it dies, I will get a 12v Drill and put a more serious motor on board. Likewise, I will also have a rechargeable battery pack in that case.

It was test fired this afternoon, But i Have no specs as to how far or fast it fires, until the weather gets nice. It does, however, function flawlessly. Fast release. Fired several rounds of potatos. The cat is Oliver. He's my soft and fuzzy buddy.

that is a very impressive gun i like the way its nearly fully mobile and full metal (nearly) i cant wait to see some damage pics get some up wen the weather is better
i think the flow corrector is just a bundle of straws as they make ther air flow straight instead of kinda everywere, they used it on mythbusters for a wind tunnel

Very nice, the design is awesome, it sort of looks like a hybrid.
Airbeds... so many different uses
ok, HOLY CRAP!! that is awesome man!! realy nice work.
ok 1 question... as experament-u2 kindof said about the flow corrector. but what does it exactly do? and is it worth doing?
peace and once again nice gun
chaos

I think the flow corrector helps eliminate turbulence in the air stream.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

I was reading in the thread that loganphyve was pressurizing his cannon to 200 psi. Be careful, don't exceed the rated pressure, while you might be safe for a while you never know. I work in the heavy lift rigging industry out here in california, in this industry the rule is Working Load= 10% of braking load. Air pressure is a powerful thing, just a word of warning.
