BASIC PNEUMATIC CANNON
Provided By - ht ... h911/spud/
This is a basic pneumatic cannon, an excellent starting point for the novice of PVC mechanics. This cannon uses a simple twist-open ball valve that gets the job done, no need to mess with electronics. I built this cannon for my dear friend Connor, in fact these air guns are what brought us together, the man is incredible. He used this cannon in a play he directed, The Cenci.
This cannon performs well and is rugged.
MATERIALS.
1" Pipe (short sections for use as nipples)
1 1/2" Pipe
1 1/2" Coupling
1 1/2"x1" Reducing Bushing
2" Pipe
2" Street Elbows (Male and Female connections)
2" End cap
2"x1" Reducing Bushing
1" to Male Thread x2
Tire Valve
1" Ball Valve
Large block of wood and tie strap for space.
ASSEMBLY.
This cannon is very simple to build. The 2" Chamber should be cut around 4 feet, but can be as short as 3 feet and still perform well. It is a matter of preference. The barrel should also be around 4 feet. Drill a hole for the tire valve and attach it to the end cap, before it is glued in place. When all pieces are arranged, prime and glue. Let them sit overnight or you risk destroying the seal of the glue.
Adaptations of this cannon abound on the Internet. One cannon is 10 feet long and shoots 3" wide bean cans of concrete!

i just wouldnt use dwv and pw parts can hold a lot of pressure but 100-120psi is about as far as u should go. any higher is pushin it
i got connections with the modfia, watch who ur talkin to noob.

I know this is crazy but I made a pneumatic out of all dwv pipe and I use it right up to 125 psi every time. once I took it to 190 but the sprinkler valve ripped the diaphram and I dident get a shot off.but the pipe never leaks or ruptures.

combustion always has a certain air of danger around it,but pneumatic is more powerful, theyre so different

guitarfreak, pneumatics are more dangerous than combustions, the only problems with combustions are flying endcaps and singed eyebrows, with pneumatics you have a pressurized tank ready to blow if you were to drop it hard enough, also if you use improper materials (with either, especially pneumatic) you run a great risk of causing more damage than would have occurred with a combustion.

so what is funner???? spudshot cuz my friends and me want to increase our arsenal if you would say but we want somethin different lookin so we were think pneumatics would be fun to build but we want somethin that is funn and makes a lot of noise and shots far and also somethin that we could afford so what is the better way to go we already have 2 combustion cannons 1 big one small

from what i've read so far , pneumatic guns can get the better distance ( you can pump them up more ). Never built or fired a pneumatic, but my combustion sounds like a shotgun when it goes off. If you want alot of noise, I doubt a pneumatic will fit the bill. As far as the price, Im sure a combustion would be cheaper to build. Which one is more fun to shoot? well, I guess its all a matter of opinion on that one. For looks, if you want something a bit more radical, it would seem that the pneumatics have far more flexibility in the design range than a combustion can offer. with the pneumatics you can setup darn near any config you please and route tubing to wherever you want. With a combustion you will be limited to design that offer a barrel that is in close proximity and directly in line with the barrel for the most part.

well,my pneumatic is metal water pipe, and i dont go above 80psi,so mine is relatively safe. they are quieter thasn combustions, but theyre definitely not silent, they are more powerful,at least twice as powerful as a combustion. i personally wouldnt trust pvc or abs for a pneumatic.,although many people use it without a hitch.

Im building one of them pneumatics outta copper piping, with a slightly different type of valve. The schrader is directly from a biike inner tube and the whole lot is done with epoxy resin. Its nearly finished now so i might put it up. Cheers be seein ya SPARTAN-2415
