Is there anything really wrong with a relieving regulator or is it just a waste of gas?
As Frankrede said, it doesn't waste too much gas... but most don't like using them because it is generally accepted as unsafe to have leaky fittings/pipe/regulators/valves due to propane's flammable nature. The warning labels are there for protection, not as a mere annoyance.
