(I'm sorry this is in the wrong section! Mods, Please move it)

Hello, I am 15 years old. For my science project I have to project a hockey puck as far as possible. The hockey puck is around 5 oz, with around a 3 inch diameter and 1 inch width. My group is trying to build a pneumatic spud gun, but for a hockey puck...We may incase the hockey puck inside of a ball to make it more aerodynamic, because we can shoot it face foward with a simple 3 inch pvc (which are very common)

I was wondering if you guys had any how to's, picture, tips, suggestions, precautions, or anything!

Thank you! :o

First off don't use dwv. What pressure do you wantto take it to? how fast do you want the puck to go. You might want to go to burntlatke.com to learn how to solvent weld if you don't know.

welcome to the forum :D

Dwv is non pressure rateed pipe. Id say use a moddified 1 inch sprinkler for this gun. maybe sholder fire. i'll find the thread on modding a sprinkler.

This is in the wrong section, no biggie! Welcome to the forums! :D
If price matters, just make a simple ball valve gun. If not, use a sprinkler valve or a qev. All you need is:
1. A chamber
2. A valve
3. A barrel

just pm me for anything else

Click on the Wiki button up top, that takes you to the info center of building, DADADADAAAAA the Spudwiki. Move your cursur over any word that changes it to a hand, place it over Pneumatic cannon, and click it when it highlights. That my fine feathered friend will tell you what you need to know.

I should copy this to a How To For The Beginging Spudder, but i'm to lazy! Pun intended!!!

You don't need to use schedual 80. i use schedual 40 nsf-pw pipe(pressure rated) so you know schedual isnt a pressure rateing. I'd say use a 1 inch ball valve any higher they get really hard to turn.

True, be it seems like he going for simplicity and no headaches. If he has a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG barrel he'll probly be ok.

id depends on teh desighn. fdo you want a gun like the link you got?

if so you need the full section of 3 inch( unless you want a 4 inch chamber). 2 3 inch elbows. one 3 inch t. 2 3 to 2 inch reducers. 1 2 inch ball valve.

Well the cons of an under over is that you have 2 elbows slowing down the air, but i preffer haveing a stock. With an inline you have no bends there for more power. Safety just stick to pressure rated. and don't have it around the cold.
