Well, assuming he doesn't know I'm there, I wouldn't care if he was armed. I can get off a shot and hide before he realizes where I am. If it stuns him, I'm all over him with a big stick or a paintball gun from a distance to blind him. If it just pisses him off, oh well, he doesn't know where I'm hiding.

@Markfh11q: Looking up the rough facts about a .38 revolver, I can assure you I'd rather get hit with one of those than even some of the smaller spudguns me and my twin brother have between us.

A heavy 20mm steel ball bearing clocking half the speed of sound will make one bloody hell of a mess if it hits something you don't want it to - and a bigger mess if it hits something you do want it to.

If I was absolutely forced to, then... well, you can guess that.

Oh and killjoy is right, people sue for everything over here. Like that one guy who was robbing a warehouse and cut himself on an exposed bar, and sued them for unsafe facilities...

Honestly, I would have shot at him. I would say that the police sirens were freaking me out and I thought he was going to steal my car or something. This reminds me of one time when I saw this guy just kinda walk across my driveway, looking around suspiciously. I saw a police car patrolling around on the next street, so I did was any brave man would do. I let my dog outside to go scare him away. So my dog's barking, the police hear, and next thing I see is this guy get laid out by a policeman, right into my fence (think ridin dirty).

Well here in Oklahoma, the "Make My Day" laws say that I can kill someone who breaks into my house if I feel that myself, my family, or my property are in danger. The "Stand Your Ground" laws say the same thing, btu they go for your vehicle. So if you're getting carjacked, blow his brains out with a .45, and the cops will probably just say "Good man."

Put straight, I personally think that if you were doing something illegal (or as a stupid action of free choice of your own), then you shouldn't be able to sue over what happens to you while you do it.

If you are trespassing, and you get injured - it's your own damn fault! It's not the homeowner's fault that you tripped down his stairs while you were trying to lift his TV...

That is the way cops are supposed to be.The Cops around my house hope you actually kill the guy if he's messing around.Less paperwork for them if they don't do the shooting.
I've had one cop tell me that if I did wound a guy in my house and he runs out shoot him in the yard and drag him back to the house.He said clean up the mess and make it look like he was in the house the whole time.That is a scary thought coming from a cop.But,if the criminal did survive he could sue and own my house.

The cops around here say basically the same thing. And it does amaze me every day how a criminal can be doing something, well, criminal, and he gets injured and sues successfully. It's so stupid. But I suppose there's not a whole lot we can really do about it.

Mine is because its shared with another persons and when we bought our house we had to agree over terms of use and stuff so it got made kind of public as its shared. But im allowed to drive my car up and down it if i want even if I don't have my restricted and its legal. you dont get many armed robbers here, but if they are its usually a sawn off shotgun or something. Hardly ever revolvers or pistols. But if he was armed, he didnt know where i was and i had a decent shot i would of taken out the PB and loaded in my fishing sinker.

Last year sometime a man robbed a gun store in Auckland with a machete and he got shot 2 or 3 times in the chest by a Colt 1911 .45cal. The store owner the was running the place at the time and shot the man when he wielded a machete demanding guns, got put on trial and went to court. I think he lost his job and had a huge fine to pay.

I beg to differ. I would rather be shot with something a lot quicker and cleaner and actually maybe leave a clean wound , that something over 1/2" wide with blunt force.
Think like this-being hit by a car at 40mph or being hit by a bullet going a thousand fps

there was a guy who was robbing a supermarket and he asked for a cashiers phone number.

if anyone remembers chaoses hand. gettign shot with a marble is not fun.

I assume you are talking about being shot by a .38 or .44.The .44 would kill you quicker being as how the bullet leaves a much larger and deeper hole than a .38(bleed out quicker). Neither are what I'd call a clean wound.Most owners of these calibers shoot some sort of non-FMJ bullet.There is nothing "clean" about a mushrooming projectile.

I will have to stick with a shotgun for a while when I move out. You have to be 21 to buy a pistol around these parts. But I'm halfway considering getting a Desert Eagle .50 with hollopoint rounds. You wanna talk about some serious damage.

A Shotgun with birdshot is no doubt the most damaging weapon at close range.I don't know the laws in Oklahoma but I know in SC you can buy a long gun(any type) at age 14. Unfortunetly the 21 yr. old rule for hand guns applies here as well.Still doesn't change my pistol shooting fun.
Go for a mil surplus handgun.They are cheaper and reliable.Any of the eastern block surpluses will be fine for home defense.

Well here it's 18 for a long weapon, and 21 for a pistol. Sawed-offs are uber illegal, even the police SWAT team has to get special permits for them. But realistically, I'm going for either a 12-gauge semi or an AR-15 for home defense. Then when I turn 21 I'm going to get a concealed carry license and I'll probably pack a compact .40 with a hi-cap mag.
