Howdy people, I am new around here. You can call me cow dude if you want. I am a little of an electronics nerd if you want to say, but I really want to make my pneumatic cannon remote controlled. I bought today a Toro 1 inch Inline Jar Top Valve. For sprinklers, of course... Model number 53709, just if you wanted to know. So, I can return this valve and get a new one, but I want to know, will an existing solenoid valve hold air, in the neighborhood of about 100 PSI, or will I have to modify it. I just would really like to keep it electronic controlled, because I am replacing my ball valve on the gun with an electronic valve. If you need pictures of my gun, I have them at my disposal too.

Thanks,

Yes, it should hold fine. Post pics anyway, and we love video's of spudding here. Welcome to Spudfiles!
1 question, Why did you decide on a jar top sprinkler valve? Most use inline valves, i think Frank use a jar top for one of his cannons.

The guy at home depot said that the toro's had the highest working pressure... I figured I would give his advice a shot.

Highest of the major brands, anyways, at 150 psig.
It'll work fine for the pressures you plan on using.

As a note, electrically actuating the valve gives lower performance than a valve modded for pneumatic operation.

Is there any way for under 35 dollars that I could keep the performance, but fire it electronically?

So I think that I am going to return this jar top and get another valve. Like a rain bird inline, then mod it. Thanks for everyone's help.
