Im looking for a new piece of destruction ammo to replace "the SLUG' http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/perfect ... t2226.html The reason i need to replace it is because it is do deadly inaccurate just because its getting worn out pretty much went through two pieces of plywood side ways.

I am looking for like a steel or wood ball that would fit a 1 1/2" cannon. Do you know where to buy them i know you can smelt lead and mold it but it seems like a lot of work and a little unsafe.

there are places on the internet like mcmaster (under raw materials), but I doubt shipping prices will be friendly for lead balls, you could try the ball mill and lead media at the bcarms pyrotechnics section. try lacross balls and cut off the rubber i don't know how much of the ball is lead but I know its part lead so maybe there a significent lead part that can fit a 1.5" barrel

lead is pretty easy to cast also,

what about wood balls or would they splinter and crack... also is there anyother sports balls thatd fit 1.5 like maybe a field hockey ball doesnt need to be lead just really hard. also on mcmaster they dont carry lead balls larger than like 7/16s they have 1 1/2 steel balls but i dont know how strong they are compared to lead because lead is a pretty dense metal

steel has a density of 8 g/cm3, which isn't that much lower than the density of lead (11.3).

Alternativly, you could buy a few ocean-sized fishing weights... my dad has a few which weigh 1/2 pound.
And no... we don't have anywhere to use them. This is PA, not MA or FL or something.

get a hollow ball that fits the barrel..cast it in plaster and let it harden.Drill a hole through the plaster block into the ball and fill it with lead.Hopefully, the ball will even burn up, leaving you with a perfect lead ball.
Styrofoam balls would be great to try that with. You may need to put a nail through the ball, to keep it from "floating"up in the plaster.

how well does it fit in 1.5'' pvc? would it be good enough for a piston without O rings?

I used a fat bolt with steel and rubber washers at each end and a pipe nipple for a spacer.

Got them all at Lowes. The ones I made weighed a pound and we put one of them right through a 22" monitor.

No pics but we made a video...

Now is a good time to bring up my little bike pump missle. It was pretty much created through a series of trials and errors.

First, I used a metal handsaw to cut the bike pump chamber off of a broken bike pump.

Then I beat one end against the ground so it could hold stuff.

I filled it a little less than halfway with acorns, put in an old sock to keep them in there, shot it out of my combustion cannon, then all the acorns jammed together and never fall out.

It fit really nice with 1 layer of duct tape half of its length. I guess it could fit with more but I didn't want to break my combustion.

So here it is (photobucket is having "site maintenence" :x )

NOTE: In case anyone's wondering, the duct tape part is the back, and the acorns are packed in the opposite end. It flies pretty straight.
