Ever since I figured out how a piston valve works (since last month lol  ) Ive been working on ways to improve it and make it easier for my sniper Im building (I got the parts and prices of parts I need). I was just wondering that if a made it so it had a piece protruding and attaching itself to a the barrel with holes in it can hold the piston in place. Im working on a picture but having no computer of my own is making it hard to do a diagram  I'll try and have a model drawn soon so you can all debate about flaming me :P .

Cheers People :P

P.S. Im working on the library computers

Well...if you have the piston attached to the barrel, hows that going to work? Your piston has to move in order for it to work. Are you sure you figured out how piston a piston valve works???

He can make holesin the barrel. As the barrel and piston are pulled back the holes are exposed which allows air into the barrel. This is sort of like the nelon gun except you are using air instead of a spring.

When the barrel and the piston is pushed back a hole in the barrel. This is what I am trying to say.

How is the air supposed to stay in the chamber without leaking when you slide the barrel back..?

That's like re-inventing the wheel if you ask me.

Even if you used a regular piston valve air would leak into the barrel anyway after you open the valve. It does not matter any way because you would not have a projectile in your barrel. This mod would not offer any benefits it would only make it harder to make. This valve would hurt your gun because it makes the opening for the air to be released smaller.

Ok with my new computer I can now use paint :P Heres a quick design of what I meant.

[img][/img]

The piston acts like a regular piston except with the sliding cover/holder it stays on.

The barrel is the black part. The piston sealing face is orange and the piston cover/holder is the blue stuff. The holes are the whit circles and the spring is the purple line.

I meant how is the air not going to escape around the barrel, and not through it.

I understand what you are trying to do but don't understand why? Air would have to pass through all the small holes before going down the barrel, this would severely hurt the performance. Also it would only work if the "cover/holder" fit snugly inside the T/chamber (depending on whether it's a piston in a T or a coax).

I think what modder means is how do you keep the air from escaping between the valve housing and the barrel, but i think what you're doing here is making the barrel stationary and the piston slides over the barrel. so the barrel could still be epoxied/solvent welded to the valve housing.

i understand. its basicaly a way to save space. instead of having the long, heavy part of the piston behind the sealing face, its in front of it, and slides along the barrel. this allows you to have a TINY piston chamber...............

I like it. i might have to steal this..........
