I have a slight problem with the sprinkler valve I bought from Amazon.com and use this tutorial.
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/no-dril ... t2497.html

I've removed all the parts stated, all except for the spring, and I attached a 1/4" blow gun. Unfortunately the valve isn't working. I pump air into the reservoir and it just goes out the barrel. The only difference is that I attached a polyetheline tube from the valve to the blowgun to reduce direct stress on the connection and I used silicon oil on the diaphram to avoid chaffing.

The one concern I have is that I tested the valve before modding it. I blew into one end and air came out the other, then tried it the other way and the same thing. I'm wondering if the valve is defective.

Here's the cannon to give you an idea.

Pull it apart and try again. I honestly cannot find fault with what youve done but you never know the spring might have got knocked out of place.

Read this sticky:

Also blowing into the valve wont seal the diaphragm. You need alot more pressure faster. Make sure your valve isn't backawards and what are you pumping your gun with?

There's a pop in at the end on the right side of the picture.

That gun looks like a dwv deathhole to me. Is that pipe even rated?

-I'm filling up with a bike pump
-I don't think it's leaking above the diaphram or out the blow gun
-Diaphram has no punctures or lacerations
-The spring should be set in place
-I've tried reversing the valve

-Pipe is schedule 40 should be good enough. This one guy I met at the parts store uses sch 40 with no problem especially if i'm going to be launching beanbags.

It won't work with a bike pump, I needed to use an air compressor on my first one as I had the same problems with the bike pump.

Sch 40 is a thickness for pipe, not a pressure rating. If you haven't cemented the gun together yet, good. You need to get rid of that reducer. LGM, bike pumps work fine with sprinkler valves, I know from a 2 1/2 year experience.

-rating is at 260 PSI
-Yes I have cemented the gun together
-How would the reducer cause a problem? Which reducer are you talking about? The 2in (top) or 3 inch (bottom)?

The reducer on the pressure chamber is the problem. Is is a DWV (drain, waste, vent) fitting that isn't made to hold pressure. It has a very short socket depth and will blow out eventually. Cut it off and get a 3" coupler and a 3" x 1" reducing bushing.

I looked everywhere for a 3" x 1" reducer but was not able to find it. do you know an online shop that will have one?

put a ball valve before the sprinkler valve and pupm it up, then relese the pressure with the ball valve. If that does not work than you know your valve is wrong. :D
